Abstract / Description
Mimicking the structure of calcified tissues and addressing the limitations of the individual materials, development of organic–inorganic hybrid biomaterials provides excellentpossibilitiesfor improvingconventionalbone implants. Suitablebiocomposites of tailoredphysical, biological, and mechanical propertieswiththepredictabledegradation behaviorcan bepreparedcombining biologically relevant CaPO4with bioresorbable polymers. This workpresents a brief history and advances in the field of CaPO4/ /polymer biocomposites and hybrid biomaterials suitable for biomedical application.
