OBJECTIVE To report a case of tubal pregnancy in a unicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn on the side of the rudiment and its pathology. METHODS Case report. METHODS University hospital. METHODS An 18-year-old woman, primigravida, with tubal pregnancy. METHODS Systemic administration of methotrexate, salpingectomy by laparotomy, and laparoscopic surgery for resection of rudimentary horn. METHODS Emergent laparotomy revealed that the intraperitoneal hemorrhage was caused by the rupture of the tubal pregnancy on the same side as the rudimentary horn of the unicornuate uterus. A corpus luteum was found at the ipsilateral ovary of the rudimentary horn. RESULTS Image diagnosis and pathological examination of the rudimentary horn revealed that this uterine malformation was a unicornuate uterus with a noncommunicated, noncavitary rudimentary horn, corresponding to class IIc of the American Fertility Society classification of müllerian anomalies. CONCLUSIONS This is the first report of a tubal pregnancy on the side of the noncommunicating rudimentary horn with the ipsilateral ovary carrying a corpus luteum in a unicornuate uterus.

D008727 Methotrexate An antineoplastic antimetabolite with immunosuppressant properties. It is an inhibitor of TETRAHYDROFOLATE DEHYDROGENASE and prevents the formation of tetrahydrofolate, necessary for synthesis of thymidylate, an essential component of DNA. D010535 Laparoscopy A procedure in which a laparoscope (LAPAROSCOPES) is inserted through a small incision near the navel to examine the abdominal and pelvic organs in the PERITONEAL CAVITY. If appropriate, biopsy or surgery can be performed during laparoscopy. D011247 Pregnancy The status during which female mammals carry their developing young (EMBRYOS or FETUSES) in utero before birth, beginning from FERTILIZATION to BIRTH. Gestation,Pregnancies
D011274 Pregnancy, Tubal The most common (>96%) type of ectopic pregnancy in which the extrauterine EMBRYO IMPLANTATION occurs in the FALLOPIAN TUBE, usually in the ampullary region where FERTILIZATION takes place. Tubal Pregnancy,Pregnancies, Tubal,Tubal Pregnancies
D005187 Fallopian Tubes A pair of highly specialized canals extending from the UTERUS to its corresponding OVARY. They provide the means for OVUM transport from the ovaries and they are the site of the ovum's final maturation and FERTILIZATION. The fallopian tube consists of an interstitium, an isthmus, an ampulla, an infundibulum, and fimbriae. Its wall consists of three layers: serous, muscular, and an internal mucosal layer lined with both ciliated and secretory cells. D014599 Uterus The hollow thick-walled muscular organ in the female PELVIS. It consists of the fundus which is the site of EMBRYO IMPLANTATION and FETAL DEVELOPMENT. Beyond the isthmus at the perineal end of fundus, is CERVIX UTERI (the neck) opening into VAGINA. Beyond the isthmi at the upper abdominal end of fundus, are the FALLOPIAN TUBES.
