[The diagnosis of pseudotumours of the macula by means of ultrasonography (author's transl)]. 1975

The echograms of 35 patients affected with pseudotumours of the macula were analysed in detail. Pseudotumours and malignant melanomas can be distinguished by means of ultrasound with high probability if the minimal prominence of the tumour is not lower than 1.1 mm, and with certainty if the minimal prominence is not less than 1.5 mm. The echogram of pseudotumours is mainly characterized by its extraordinary irregularity.
