Inheritance of acute anterior uveitis and HL-A antigen 27. 1976

M Saari, and R Miettinen, and E Herva, and A Tiilikainen

A family study on the inheritance of HL-A antigens and susceptibility to acute anterior uveitis is reported. In the 4 families examined, the antigen 27 (haplotype 2.27) occurred in all of the 7 patients with acute anterior uveitis and in 22 of the 33 healthy family members examined. It is suggested that in Finns the haplotype 2,27 is linked with genes predisposing the carrier to acute anterior uveitis.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D006649 Histocompatibility Antigens A group of antigens that includes both the major and minor histocompatibility antigens. The former are genetically determined by the major histocompatibility complex. They determine tissue type for transplantation and cause allograft rejections. The latter are systems of allelic alloantigens that can cause weak transplant rejection. D006650 Histocompatibility Testing Identification of the major histocompatibility antigens of transplant DONORS and potential recipients, usually by serological tests. Donor and recipient pairs should be of identical ABO blood group, and in addition should be matched as closely as possible for HISTOCOMPATIBILITY ANTIGENS in order to minimize the likelihood of allograft rejection. D006680 HLA Antigens Antigens determined by leukocyte loci found on chromosome 6, the major histocompatibility loci in humans. They are polypeptides or glycoproteins found on most nucleated cells and platelets, determine tissue types for transplantation, and are associated with certain diseases. D014605 Uveitis Inflammation of part or all of the uvea, the middle (vascular) tunic of the eye, and commonly involving the other tunics (sclera and cornea, and the retina). (Dorland, 27th ed) Uveitides
