Case report: a bleeding Meckel's diverticulum diagnosed by selective arteriography. 1976

The diagnosis of a bleeding Meckel's diverticulum was made by angiography in a 71 year old man who presented with melena and hemorrhagic shock. Emergent angiographic examination revealed an extravasation of contrast media from the ileal artery, which suggested a bleeding from the Meckel's diverticulum. The case illustrates the utility of selective angiography in case of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, where the lesion is beyond the range endoscopy.
