Oxprenolol and hydrallazine in the treatment of hypertension. 1975

J W Freeman, and L W Knight

Oxprenolol and hydrallazine in combination were found to be as effective as methyldopa in a trial in hypertensive patients. The drugs could be given in a twice-daily dosage and had a much higher degree of patient acceptance. The side effects of this drug combination were usually due to hydrallazine and were mild and short-lived, but did require the withdrawal of one patient from the trial. Hydrallazine should be used with caution in the treatment of patients with a history of myocardial lschaemia.
