[Mitral echocardiography in hunter syndrome (author's transl)]. 1979

An echocardiographic study was realized in four patients with the Hunter syndrome (mucopolysaccharidoses II), evidenced by the clinical, radiologic and laboratory data. Mitral incompetence was present in two of the cases. In cases without mitral incompetence the echocardiographic tracing showed multiple mitral systolic echoes with a normal left atrium. On the other hand in cases with mitral incompetence the echocardiograms showed multiple systolic and diastolic echoes of the mitral valve with left atrial enlargement.

D016532	Mucopolysaccharidosis II	Systemic lysosomal storage disease marked by progressive physical deterioration and caused by a deficiency of L-sulfoiduronate sulfatase. This disease differs from MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDOSIS I by slower progression, lack of corneal clouding, and X-linked rather than autosomal recessive inheritance. The mild form produces near-normal intelligence and life span. The severe form usually causes death by age 15.
