[The Musée du service de santé des armeés in Val-de-Grâce]. 1999

Musée du service de santé des armées au Val-de-Grâce.

This museum is located in the historical building of the Val-de-Grâce in Paris. It has been totally rebuilt, and its permanent rooms have recently been reopened. It shows the history of the French military medical service thanks to the presentation of one of its main missions, the medical evacuation. The other various components of the medical service such as research in war surgery and psychiatry, subaquatic and aerospace medicine, or pharmacology are displayed. Hygiene and prevention of transmissible diseases that have profited of the famous works of Michel Levy, Fonssagrives, Villemin or Laveran are shown. The visitor may also discover the marvelous mortars and pharmacy pots collection of the doctors Debat.
