A simple and practical synthetic procedure for the versatile intermediates, (+/-)-1,2:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-myo-inositol and (+/-)-6-O-benzoyl-1,2:4,5-di-O-isopropylidene-myo-inositol, is described.
