The prevalence of high blood pressure increases in our industrialized society. The main risk factors are hypertensive heredity, small birth weight for the gestational age, large increase of weight in teenagers, low physical activity, excess in salt and/or alcohol consumption. The normotensive people with high normal blood pressure are the future hypertensive population.
