[Separate measurement of fluoroanalogues of desmosterol, cholesterol, 7-dehydrocholesterol by thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography]. 1975

An attempt was made to develop a new method for separate measurement of sterols of similar chemical structure--desmosterol, cholesterol, 7-dehydrocholesterol--by means of thin-layer and gas-liquid chromatography. Fluoroanalogues of the sterols were well separated in the adsorbent thin layer. This facilitated their further identification, quantitation and accumulation. Similar results were obtained with the aid of gas liquid chromatography.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D002784 Cholesterol The principal sterol of all higher animals, distributed in body tissues, especially the brain and spinal cord, and in animal fats and oils. Epicholesterol
D002849 Chromatography, Gas Fractionation of a vaporized sample as a consequence of partition between a mobile gaseous phase and a stationary phase held in a column. Two types are gas-solid chromatography, where the fixed phase is a solid, and gas-liquid, in which the stationary phase is a nonvolatile liquid supported on an inert solid matrix. D002855 Chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography on thin layers of adsorbents rather than in columns. The adsorbent can be alumina, silica gel, silicates, charcoals, or cellulose. D003897 Desmosterol An intermediate in the synthesis of cholesterol. 24-Dehydrocholesterol,Demosterol,24 Dehydrocholesterol
D005461 Fluorine A nonmetallic, diatomic gas that is a trace element and member of the halogen family. It is used in dentistry as fluoride (FLUORIDES) to prevent dental caries. Fluorine-19,Fluorine 19
