[Quantitative determination of vanillic acid in rhizoma Picrorhizae by TLC-scanning]. 1999

OBJECTIVE To establish a method to determine the content of vanillic acid in Rhizoma Picrorhizae. METHODS The content was determined by dual wavelength TLC-scanning. RESULTS The peak area of vanillic acid is reproducible in 4 hours; recovery 96.5%; RSD-3%; RSD of duplicate experiment-5%. CONCLUSIONS A thin-layer chromatographic scanning method has been developed for determining the content of vanillic acid. The method is reproducible, workable and reliable.
