The O-specific polysaccharide of P. fluorescens IMV 2366 was studied by sugar and methylation analyses along with 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, including 2D gsCOSY, TOCSY, gsNOESY, H-detected 1H,(13)C gsHSQC, HMQC-TOCSY, and gsHMBC experiments. The polysaccharide contains L-rhamnose, 2-acetamido-2,6-dideoxy-D-galactose (D-FucNAc) and 3-acylamido-3,6-dideoxy-D-glucose (D-Qui3NAcyl, where Acyl is 3-hydroxy-2,3-dimethyl-5-oxoprolyl). The structure 1 of the polysaccharide was found to be similar to the structure 2 of a 6-deoxy-L-talose (L-6dTal)-containing O-specific polysaccharide of a non-classified P. fluorescens strain, 361, studied earlier [Khomenko, V. D008745 Methylation Addition of methyl groups. In histo-chemistry methylation is used to esterify carboxyl groups and remove sulfate groups by treating tissue sections with hot methanol in the presence of hydrochloric acid. (From Stedman, 25th ed) Methylations
D009005 Monosaccharides Single chain carbohydrates that are the most basic units of CARBOHYDRATES. They are typically colorless crystalline substances with a sweet taste and have the same general formula CnH2nOn. Monosaccharide,Simple Sugar,Simple Sugars,Sugar, Simple,Sugars, Simple
D011551 Pseudomonas fluorescens A species of nonpathogenic fluorescent bacteria found in feces, sewage, soil, and water, and which liquefy gelatin. Bacillus fluorescens,Bacillus fluorescens liquefaciens,Bacterium fluorescens,Liquidomonas fluorescens
D006868 Hydrolysis The process of cleaving a chemical compound by the addition of a molecule of water.
D019081 O Antigens The lipopolysaccharide-protein somatic antigens, usually from gram-negative bacteria, important in the serological classification of enteric bacilli. The O-specific chains determine the specificity of the O antigens of a given serotype. O antigens are the immunodominant part of the lipopolysaccharide molecule in the intact bacterial cell.
