[Data processing in electronystagmography (author's transl)]. 1975

G Ranacher, and M Moser

As a method for objective registration of nystagmic responses electronystagmography gives a lot of information about the state of the vestibulo-oculomotor system. Concerning accuracy, reproducibilityand objectivity the commonly used methods for diagnostic interpretation of this material are not quite satisfying. By means of a data acquistion system it is possible to utilize the advantages of the techniques of data processing. In common with fundamental considerations regarding to the choice of the parameters to evaluate the essential parts of the computer-program (calibrations, elimination of interferences, analysis of the fast and slow nystagmic components) are described and examples for the results are shown.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D003201 Computers Programmable electronic devices designed to accept data, perform prescribed mathematical and logical operations at high speed, and display the results of these operations. D004584 Electronystagmography Recording of nystagmus based on changes in the electrical field surrounding the eye produced by the difference in potential between the cornea and the retina. Electronystagmographies
D004585 Electrooculography Recording of the average amplitude of the resting potential arising between the cornea and the retina in light and dark adaptation as the eyes turn a standard distance to the right and the left. The increase in potential with light adaptation is used to evaluate the condition of the retinal pigment epithelium. EOG,Electrooculograms,Electrooculogram
