Postmyocardial infarction (Dressler's) syndrome: report of a case with immunological and viral studies. 1976

H L Kennedy, and S K Das

A case of PMIX with immunologic and viral studies obtained prior, during, and after a typical exacerbation are reported. Immunologic studies indicated the presence of humoral antiheart autoantibodies, and an increase in the number and proportion of lymphocytes containing surface IgG immunoglobulin during acute activity. Viral studies were negative. Previously reported immunologic and viral data, as well as etiology and pathogenesis of PMIS are discussed.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007074 Immunoglobulin G The major immunoglobulin isotype class in normal human serum. There are several isotype subclasses of IgG, for example, IgG1, IgG2A, and IgG2B. D007111 Immunity, Cellular Manifestations of the immune response which are mediated by antigen-sensitized T-lymphocytes via lymphokines or direct cytotoxicity. This takes place in the absence of circulating antibody or where antibody plays a subordinate role. D008214 Lymphocytes White blood cells formed in the body's lymphoid tissue. The nucleus is round or ovoid with coarse, irregularly clumped chromatin while the cytoplasm is typically pale blue with azurophilic (if any) granules. Most lymphocytes can be classified as either T or B (with subpopulations of each), or NATURAL KILLER CELLS. Lymphoid Cells,Cell, Lymphoid,Cells, Lymphoid,Lymphocyte,Lymphoid Cell
