[Enzyme and protein release from human granulocytes: effect of ATP]. 1975

Y Houpert, and P Tarallo, and G Siest

The authors study the proteins and enzymes release of resting and phagocytosing human leukocytes suspended in Krebs-Ringer-Phosphate milieu containing or not glucose. They measure the metabolic level and the percentage of enzymes release and show the influence of ATP on this phenomenon. These results are in favour of a direct action of ATP on the cellular membrane.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007770 L-Lactate Dehydrogenase A tetrameric enzyme that, along with the coenzyme NAD+, catalyzes the interconversion of LACTATE and PYRUVATE. In vertebrates, genes for three different subunits (LDH-A, LDH-B and LDH-C) exist. Lactate Dehydrogenase,Dehydrogenase, L-Lactate,Dehydrogenase, Lactate,L Lactate Dehydrogenase
D007773 Lactates Salts or esters of LACTIC ACID containing the general formula CH3CHOHCOOR.
D007962 Leukocytes White blood cells. These include granular leukocytes (BASOPHILS; EOSINOPHILS; and NEUTROPHILS) as well as non-granular leukocytes (LYMPHOCYTES and MONOCYTES). D010587 Phagocytosis The engulfing and degradation of microorganisms; other cells that are dead, dying, or pathogenic; and foreign particles by phagocytic cells (PHAGOCYTES). Phagocytoses
D011773 Pyruvates Derivatives of PYRUVIC ACID, including its salts and esters.
D002462 Cell Membrane The lipid- and protein-containing, selectively permeable membrane that surrounds the cytoplasm in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. D002463 Cell Membrane Permeability A quality of cell membranes which permits the passage of solvents and solutes into and out of cells. Permeability, Cell Membrane
D005947 Glucose A primary source of energy for living organisms. It is naturally occurring and is found in fruits and other parts of plants in its free state. It is used therapeutically in fluid and nutrient replacement. D006098 Granulocytes Leukocytes with abundant granules in the cytoplasm. They are divided into three groups according to the staining properties of the granules: neutrophilic, eosinophilic, and basophilic. Mature granulocytes are the NEUTROPHILS; EOSINOPHILS; and BASOPHILS. Granulocyte
