A description is given of a hemoproteid parasite tentatively referred to Haemoproteus plataleae occurring in a Glossy Ibis Plegadis falcinellus (L.) captured in Apulia (Italy) April 29, 1991. It is compared with other haemoproteids of the avian Threskiornithidae family.
