Some techniques of pancreaticojejunostomy have been introduced with reference to pancreatic leakage from the pancreaticojejunal anastomosis. Pancreatic leakage (+/- ) occurred in 21.4% of pancreaticojejunostomy patients and pancreatic leakage (+) in 9.5%. The frequency of pancreatic leakage tended to be higher in cases where the pancreatic duct was undilated and the remaining distal segment of the pancreas had a soft tissue. Pancreatic leakage led to secondary complication in none of the patients in our series, but further technical refinement of pancreaticojejunostomy is warranted to reduce the frequency of pancreatic leakage to zero.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007413 Intestinal Mucosa Lining of the INTESTINES, consisting of an inner EPITHELIUM, a middle LAMINA PROPRIA, and an outer MUSCULARIS MUCOSAE. In the SMALL INTESTINE, the mucosa is characterized by a series of folds and abundance of absorptive cells (ENTEROCYTES) with MICROVILLI. D007440 Intubation Introduction of a tube into a hollow organ to restore or maintain patency if obstructed. It is differentiated from CATHETERIZATION in that the insertion of a catheter is usually performed for the introducing or withdrawing of fluids from the body. Intubations
D007583 Jejunum The middle portion of the SMALL INTESTINE, between DUODENUM and ILEUM. It represents about 2/5 of the remaining portion of the small intestine below duodenum. Jejunums
D010179 Pancreas A nodular organ in the ABDOMEN that contains a mixture of ENDOCRINE GLANDS and EXOCRINE GLANDS. The small endocrine portion consists of the ISLETS OF LANGERHANS secreting a number of hormones into the blood stream. The large exocrine portion (EXOCRINE PANCREAS) is a compound acinar gland that secretes several digestive enzymes into the pancreatic ductal system that empties into the DUODENUM.
D010183 Pancreatic Ducts Ducts that collect PANCREATIC JUICE from the PANCREAS and supply it to the DUODENUM. D010189 Pancreatic Juice The fluid containing digestive enzymes secreted by the pancreas in response to food in the duodenum. Juice, Pancreatic,Juices, Pancreatic,Pancreatic Juices
D010190 Pancreatic Neoplasms Tumors or cancer of the PANCREAS. Depending on the types of ISLET CELLS present in the tumors, various hormones can be secreted: GLUCAGON from PANCREATIC ALPHA CELLS; INSULIN from PANCREATIC BETA CELLS; and SOMATOSTATIN from the SOMATOSTATIN-SECRETING CELLS. Most are malignant except the insulin-producing tumors (INSULINOMA). D010193 Pancreaticojejunostomy Surgical anastomosis of the pancreatic duct, or the divided end of the transected pancreas, with the jejunum. (Dorland, 28th ed) Pancreatojejunostomy,Pancreaticojejunostomies,Pancreatojejunostomies
D003138 Common Bile Duct Neoplasms Tumor or cancer of the COMMON BILE DUCT including the AMPULLA OF VATER and the SPHINCTER OF ODDI.
D004106 Dilatation The act of dilating. Dilation,Dilatations,Dilations
