[Indications for selective coronary angiography]. 1976

H Sebening, and L Lutilsky, and Blömer

At present, selective coronaro-angiography offers the only means of establishing the seriousness, extent and site of coronary sclerosis. It has led to the development of coronary surgery, itself a considerable advance in the treatment of coronary disease. The method is also of considerable assistance in the differential diagnosis of inexplicable ECG changes and other heart diseases. It is relatively free from risk if performed by experienced staff with suitable equipment and in line with the correct indications.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008944 Mitral Valve Insufficiency Backflow of blood from the LEFT VENTRICLE into the LEFT ATRIUM due to imperfect closure of the MITRAL VALVE. This can lead to mitral valve regurgitation. D006332 Cardiomegaly Enlargement of the HEART, usually indicated by a cardiothoracic ratio above 0.50. Heart enlargement may involve the right, the left, or both HEART VENTRICLES or HEART ATRIA. Cardiomegaly is a nonspecific symptom seen in patients with chronic systolic heart failure (HEART FAILURE) or several forms of CARDIOMYOPATHIES. D000787 Angina Pectoris The symptom of paroxysmal pain consequent to MYOCARDIAL ISCHEMIA usually of distinctive character, location and radiation. It is thought to be provoked by a transient stressful situation during which the oxygen requirements of the MYOCARDIUM exceed that supplied by the CORONARY CIRCULATION. D000790 Angiocardiography Radiography of the heart and great vessels after injection of a contrast medium. Angiocardiographies
D012770 Shock, Cardiogenic Shock resulting from diminution of cardiac output in heart disease. Cardiogenic Shock
