[Preventive examination for noise-induced hearing loss in accordance with the new regulation 20]. 1992

HNO-Klinik, Medizinischen Hochschule Hannover.

The regulations for the testing and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss in German industry since 1974 are summarized. Current testing involves both speech and impedance audiometry. While initials studies will be directed through occupational medicine, definitive managements will be provided by otolaryngologists involved in the prevention program.

D006317 Hearing Loss, Noise-Induced Hearing loss due to exposure to explosive loud noise or chronic exposure to sound level greater than 85 dB. The hearing loss is often in the frequency range 4000-6000 hertz. Acoustic Trauma,Hearing Loss, Noise Induced,Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

D000158 Acoustic Impedance Tests Objective tests of middle ear function based on the difficulty (impedance) or ease (admittance) of sound flow through the middle ear. These include static impedance and dynamic impedance (i.e., tympanometry and impedance tests in conjunction with intra-aural muscle reflex elicitation). This term is used also for various components of impedance and admittance (e.g., compliance, conductance, reactance, resistance, susceptance).
