[Primary intratympanic meningioma (author's transl)]. 1977

A primary intratympanic meningioma is reported, which was histologically verified. 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 years after surgical removal, there were no signs of recurrence, neither clinically nor histologically. Sites of origin of the primary intratympanic meningiomas are discussed. Symptoms, diagnostics, differential diagnosis, therapy and prognosis are summarized in relation to nine cases of the literature.

Damage to CNS motor pathways from the cerebral cortex to the facial nuclei in the pons leads to facial weakness that generally spares the forehead muscles.
