By means of intraosseous angiography it was possible for the first time to demonstrate the vessels in an osteochondroma during life. The vascular structure as demonstrated and the well known histopathological appearances indicate that an osteochondroma represents an error of enchondral development which is due to an anomaly of the diaphyseal vessels. With fusion of the epiphyseal plate, the osteochondroma becomes an independant tumour with malignant potential.
