[Cerebrovascular disorders in the Turkmen S.S.R]. 1991

The prevalence and incidence of cerebrovascular diseases were studied in three out of five regions of the Turkmenian SSR. In these regions, the incidence of brain strokes amounts from 88.4 to 141.4 cases per 100,000 population, the intensive lethality index from 50.9 to 63.5%. The lethality percentage constitutes from 36.7 to 71.8%. Brain strokes account for 11.2 to 18.7% in the general cause of the population lethality. Concrete measures aimed at decreasing the incidence of cerebrovascular disease in the region are recommended.
