[Study of glycogen metabolism in the liver in type III glycogenosis (limit dextrinosis)]. 1975

I V Chibisov, and A F Leont'ev, and E L Rozenfel'd

Data on biochemical study of a patient with glycogenosis of the III type (limit dextrinosis) are presented. In a punctate of liver tissue absence of amylo-1,6-glucosidase activity and significant accumulation of glycogen, which was anomalous in structure, were noted. Loading with galactose and adrenaline caused alterations typical for the III type of glycogenosis. Content of glucose and lactate in blood were also studied in response to the peroral administration of glucose and protein. In erythrocytes of the patient the polysaccharide structure was shown to be anomalous; it resembled the structure of a polysaccharide from liver tissue of the patient.

D005951 Glucose Tolerance Test A test to determine the ability of an individual to maintain HOMEOSTASIS of BLOOD GLUCOSE. It includes measuring blood glucose levels in a fasting state, and at prescribed intervals before and after oral glucose intake (75 or 100 g) or intravenous infusion (0.5 g/kg). D005952 Glucose-6-Phosphatase An enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of D-glucose 6-phosphate and water to D-glucose and orthophosphate. EC 3.1.3.9. Glucosephosphatase,Glucose 6-Phosphatase,Glucose-6-Phosphate Phosphohydrolase,Glucose 6 Phosphatase
D005956 Glucose-6-Phosphate Isomerase An aldose-ketose isomerase that catalyzes the reversible interconversion of glucose 6-phosphate and fructose 6-phosphate. In prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms it plays an essential role in glycolytic and gluconeogenic pathways. In mammalian systems the enzyme is found in the cytoplasm and as a secreted protein. This secreted form of glucose-6-phosphate isomerase has been referred to as autocrine motility factor or neuroleukin, and acts as a cytokine which binds to the AUTOCRINE MOTILITY FACTOR RECEPTOR. Deficiency of the enzyme in humans is an autosomal recessive trait, which results in CONGENITAL NONSPHEROCYTIC HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA.
