[Our and foreign experience in the field of radical hysterectomy and lymph node dissection in the treatment of cervical cancer stage IB-IIA]. 2007

OBJECTIVE Our aim was to summarise our and foreign experience in the treatment of cervical cancer stage IB-IIA with Radical hysterectomy and lymph node dissection. METHODS 260 patients were examined for the period of 2000-2006 and all of them were stage IB-IIA cervical cancers. RESULTS According to our experience the preffered method of treatment of cervical cancer stage IB-IIA was the radical hysterectomy with or without chemotherapy. In patients with "bulky" lymph nodes, they are resected and the patients become patients with micrometastases. The postoperative radiotherapy with "small field" of radiation has very good results. CONCLUSIONS The 3 years survival in these patients treated with surgery, adjuvant chemotherapy plus radiotherapy is between 80-90%.
