The changes in the content of mature crosslinks with pyridinoline structure and soluble/insoluble collagen ratio in the costal cartilage tissue of human beings aged from 1 month to 57 years were found to be age-dependent. The effect of the pyridinoline crosslink content on the soluble/insoluble collagen ratio in human costal cartilage tissue may constitute no less than 67% of the total influence of the sum of all factors. The pronounced nonlinearity of the studied dependencies points to a possible involvement of a factor(s) other than the pyridinoline crosslink content.

D007223 Infant A child between 1 and 23 months of age. Infants
D008875 Middle Aged An adult aged 45 - 64 years. Middle Age
D002356 Cartilage A non-vascular form of connective tissue composed of CHONDROCYTES embedded in a matrix that includes CHONDROITIN SULFATE and various types of FIBRILLAR COLLAGEN. There are three major types: HYALINE CARTILAGE; FIBROCARTILAGE; and ELASTIC CARTILAGE. Cartilages
D003432 Cross-Linking Reagents Reagents with two reactive groups, usually at opposite ends of the molecule, that are capable of reacting with and thereby forming bridges between side chains of amino acids in proteins; the locations of naturally reactive areas within proteins can thereby be identified; may also be used for other macromolecules, like glycoproteins, nucleic acids, or other. D000596 Amino Acids Organic compounds that generally contain an amino (-NH2) and a carboxyl (-COOH) group. Twenty alpha-amino acids are the subunits which are polymerized to form proteins. Amino Acid,Acid, Amino,Acids, Amino
D012272 Ribs A set of twelve curved bones which connect to the vertebral column posteriorly, and terminate anteriorly as costal cartilage. Together, they form a protective cage around the internal thoracic organs. Rib
D012995 Solubility The ability of a substance to be dissolved, i.e. to form a solution with another substance. (From McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 6th ed) Solubilities
