Tidal dialysis urea [NU] and total nitrogen [NT] clearances were obtained from nine patients, weighing 15-79 kg. Clearances normalized to a 70 kg body weight [nClr in ml/min/70 kg] increased with dialysate flow normalized to body weight [nFlow in ml/hr/kg]. The nClr [NU] = 6.862 + 0.352 x nFlow (r = 0.641, p less than or equal to 0.01). The nClr [NT] = 15.815 + 0.431 x nFlow (r = 0.460, p less than or equal to 0.01). Dialysate non-urea nitrogen [NT - NU] losses were 44.63 +/- 2.79 mg/kg daily, and these were altered minimally by the dialysate flow rate.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010531 Peritoneal Dialysis, Continuous Ambulatory Portable peritoneal dialysis using the continuous (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) presence of peritoneal dialysis solution in the peritoneal cavity except for periods of drainage and instillation of fresh solution. CAPD,Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis
D001806 Blood Urea Nitrogen The urea concentration of the blood stated in terms of nitrogen content. Serum (plasma) urea nitrogen is approximately 12% higher than blood urea nitrogen concentration because of the greater protein content of red blood cells. Increases in blood or serum urea nitrogen are referred to as azotemia and may have prerenal, renal, or postrenal causes. (From Saunders Dictionary & Encyclopedia of Laboratory Medicine and Technology, 1984) BUN,Nitrogen, Blood Urea,Urea Nitrogen, Blood
D002648 Child A person 6 to 12 years of age. An individual 2 to 5 years old is CHILD, PRESCHOOL. Children

D006801 Humans Members of the species Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens,Man (Taxonomy),Human,Man, Modern,Modern Man
D000328 Adult A person having attained full growth or maturity. Adults are of 19 through 44 years of age. For a person between 19 and 24 years of age, YOUNG ADULT is available. Adults
D015314 Dialysis Solutions Solutions prepared for exchange across a semipermeable membrane of solutes below a molecular size determined by the cutoff threshold of the membrane material. Dialysate,Dialysis Solution,Dialyzate,Dialysates,Dialyzates,Solution, Dialysis,Solutions, Dialysis
