Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences, UMIST, Manchester, UK.

The amount of longitudinal chromatic aberration in groups of younger and older subjects is compared in three separate studies, using a laser speckle optometer, Badal optometers with monochromatic illumination, and monochromatic retinoscopy. No evidence is found for any systematic change in chromatic aberration with age.
