Morphogenetic substance in legume nodule formation. 1966

A G Schaffer, and M Alexander

Addition of extracts of bean cotyledon or hypocotyl or of a coconut-water preparation to roots grown from excised bean hypocotyls markedly increased the number of nodules, while removal of part of the hypocotyl tissue reduced the number. The active morphogenetic substance in the coconut water has been partially purified.
