OBJECTIVE The aim of our study is to report three cases of retinal venous occlusion in patients with Behçet disease and to discuss the physiopathology of this vascular accident. METHODS In this retrospective study, out of a series of 32 patients suffering from Behçet disease, we report three cases of retinal venous occlusion. General and ophthalmologic features are described. Treatment strategy is detailed for each case. RESULTS There were 2 cases of branch retinal venous occlusion and one case of central retinal venous occlusion. Relapses and retinal neovascularization were the most common complications. CONCLUSIONS The retinal venous occlusion in Behçet's disease is a non-common but severe complication. Early and appropriate treatment is required to improve the functional prognosis.

D001528 Behcet Syndrome Rare chronic inflammatory disease involving the small blood vessels. It is of unknown etiology and characterized by mucocutaneous ulceration in the mouth and genital region and uveitis with hypopyon. The neuro-ocular form may cause blindness and death. SYNOVITIS; THROMBOPHLEBITIS; gastrointestinal ulcerations; RETINAL VASCULITIS; and OPTIC ATROPHY may occur as well. D012189 Retrospective Studies Studies used to test etiologic hypotheses in which inferences about an exposure to putative causal factors are derived from data relating to characteristics of persons under study or to events or experiences in their past. The essential feature is that some of the persons under study have the disease or outcome of interest and their characteristics are compared with those of unaffected persons.
