[Seminal vesicle cysts as a rare differential diagnosis of an intrapelvic space-occupying lesion]. 2008

BACKGROUND Acquired or congenital seminal vesicle cysts are rare and probably not diagnosed in the majority of asymptomatic cases. When they do appear to be symptomatic, surgery should be considered. METHODS We report the case of a 65-year-old individual presenting with urinary retention secondary to a sizeable seminal vesicle cyst. The therapeutic options are discussed. CONCLUSIONS Open surgery as well as the laparoscopic approach can be recommended as the treatment of choice for the uncommon condition of symptomatic seminal vesicle cysts.
