4'-Thioadenosines have been discovered as novel templates for A(3) adenosine ligands. Among these, 4'-thioadenosine-5'-monoalkyluronamides were discovered as novel potent and selective A(3) adenosine receptor agonists, while 4'-thioadenosine-5'-dialkyluronamides and truncated 4'-thioadenosine derivatives exhibited potent and selective antagonism at the A(3) adenosine receptor.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008024 Ligands A molecule that binds to another molecule, used especially to refer to a small molecule that binds specifically to a larger molecule, e.g., an antigen binding to an antibody, a hormone or neurotransmitter binding to a receptor, or a substrate or allosteric effector binding to an enzyme. Ligands are also molecules that donate or accept a pair of electrons to form a coordinate covalent bond with the central metal atom of a coordination complex. (From Dorland, 27th ed) Ligand
D006801 Humans Members of the species Homo sapiens. Homo sapiens,Man (Taxonomy),Human,Man, Modern,Modern Man
D000241 Adenosine A nucleoside that is composed of ADENINE and D-RIBOSE. Adenosine or adenosine derivatives play many important biological roles in addition to being components of DNA and RNA. Adenosine itself is a neurotransmitter. Adenocard,Adenoscan
D013872 Thionucleosides Nucleosides in which the base moiety is substituted with one or more sulfur atoms.
D058909 Adenosine A3 Receptor Agonists Drugs that selectively bind to and activate ADENOSINE A3 RECEPTORS.
D058918 Adenosine A3 Receptor Antagonists Compounds that selectively bind to and block the activation of ADENOSINE A3 RECEPTORS.
