Single crystals of glucose dehydrogenase from the archaebacterium Thermoplasma acidophilum were obtained using the hanging-drop vapour diffusion method and polyethylene glycol as a precipitant in the presence of NADP+ at pH 5.4. The crystals belong to the hexagonal space group P6122 or P6522, with unit cell dimensions a = b = 121.9 angstrom, c = 229.6 angstrom and with two molecules in the asymmetric unit.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D011487 Protein Conformation The characteristic 3-dimensional shape of a protein, including the secondary, supersecondary (motifs), tertiary (domains) and quaternary structure of the peptide chain. PROTEIN STRUCTURE, QUATERNARY describes the conformation assumed by multimeric proteins (aggregates of more than one polypeptide chain). D003461 Crystallography The branch of science that deals with the geometric description of crystals and their internal arrangement. (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th ed) Crystallographies
D005948 Glucose Dehydrogenases D-Glucose:1-oxidoreductases. Catalyzes the oxidation of D-glucose to D-glucono-gamma-lactone and reduced acceptor. Any acceptor except molecular oxygen is permitted. Includes EC 1.1.1.47; EC 1.1.1.118; EC 1.1.1.119 and EC 1.1.99.10. Glucose Oxidoreductases,Dehydrogenases, Glucose,Oxidoreductases, Glucose

D013822 Thermoplasma A genus of facultatively anaerobic heterotrophic archaea, in the order THERMOPLASMALES, isolated from self-heating coal refuse piles and acid hot springs. They are thermophilic and can grow both with and without sulfur.
D014961 X-Ray Diffraction The scattering of x-rays by matter, especially crystals, with accompanying variation in intensity due to interference effects. Analysis of the crystal structure of materials is performed by passing x-rays through them and registering the diffraction image of the rays (CRYSTALLOGRAPHY, X-RAY).
