[Treatment of patients with corticoid-dependent bronchial asthma by step-by-step intra-pulmonary administration of glucocorticoids]. 1990

A V Nikitin, and V V Omeliusik

The efficacy of a local step-by-step intrapulmonary and systemic administration of glucocorticosteroids (GCS) in 61 patients with corticoid dependent bronchial asthma was studied. A significantly earlier normalization of the basic clinical symptoms of exacerbation of the disease and an improvement of the external respiration function were revealed in the main group of patients, as compared to the controls. The method of a local step-by-step intrapulmonary administration of GCS made it possible to increase the treatment efficacy by bringing down the GCS dosage required to maintain++ remission and excluding complications caused during intrapulmonary injection of drugs to patients with corticoid dependent bronchial asthma.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007277 Injections, Jet The injection of solutions into the skin by compressed air devices so that only the solution pierces the skin. Jet Injections,Injection, Jet,Jet Injection
D007478 Iontophoresis Therapeutic introduction of ions of soluble salts into tissues by means of electric current. In medical literature it is commonly used to indicate the process of increasing the penetration of drugs into surface tissues by the application of electric current. It has nothing to do with ION EXCHANGE; AIR IONIZATION nor PHONOPHORESIS, none of which requires current. Iontophoreses
D008168 Lung Either of the pair of organs occupying the cavity of the thorax that effect the aeration of the blood. Lungs

D005938 Glucocorticoids A group of CORTICOSTEROIDS that affect carbohydrate metabolism (GLUCONEOGENESIS, liver glycogen deposition, elevation of BLOOD SUGAR), inhibit ADRENOCORTICOTROPIC HORMONE secretion, and possess pronounced anti-inflammatory activity. They also play a role in fat and protein metabolism, maintenance of arterial blood pressure, alteration of the connective tissue response to injury, reduction in the number of circulating lymphocytes, and functioning of the central nervous system.
