[Foreign bodies as a cause of non-healing wounds, trophic ulcers and fistulas]. 1990

A retrospective analysis of 105 clinical observations of nonhealing wounds, trophic ulcers and fistulas caused by various foreign bodies has shown their diagnostic difficulties as well as problems with their treatment. It was shown that continuous ambulatory treatment and attempts of "blind" extraction of foreign bodies are not permissible. The best method of treatment is thought to be operative interventions with wide opening of the wound canal under general anesthesia.
