Soft-tissue bunionectomy in podiatric surgery. 1991

The purpose of this article is to present a review of several of the basic bunionectomy criteria as they apply to the so-called soft-tissue bunionectomy. A variation of the McBride bunionectomy is presented using a minimal traumatic technique, and a retrospective study of 80 cases is presented. It can be concluded from this study that the soft-tissue bunionectomy is a viable procedure when the appropriate criteria are present. It does appear, however, that this procedure will be successful in only the mildest cases of deformity.
