[Studies on the chemical constituents of Solanum nigrum]. 2010

OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents from Solanum nigrum. METHODS Compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and preparative HPLC. Their structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral analysis. RESULTS Six compounds were isolated and identified as (+)-pinoresinol (I), (+)-syringaresinol (II), (+)-medioresinol (III), scopoletin (IV), tetracosanoic acid (V) and beta-sitosterol (VI). CONCLUSIONS Compounds I - III are isolated from this genus for the first time, while compounds IV and V are isolated from this plant for the first time.
