[Development of a culture medium for growing Mycobacterium tuberculosis]. 1990

E S Chichibabin

The author suggests an idea of a wide testing of the improved culture media for M. tuberculosis with pH 7.1-7.3 and 6.5-6.7 and tentatively named as "Stavropolskaya-1" and "Stavropolskaya-2". While the former could be used instead of Lowenstein-Jensen medium, "Stavropolskaya-2" could be recommended for the bacteriological examination of sputum processed with alkaline compounds and not having the sediment neutralized. The outcomes of testing these culture media are presented by the author.
