Single stranded DNA sequences can be detected by target assisted exonuclease III-catalyzed signal amplification fluorescence polarization (TAECA-FP). The method offers an impressive detection limit of 83 aM within one hour for DNA detection and exhibits high discrimination ability even against a single base mismatch.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D004247 DNA A deoxyribonucleotide polymer that is the primary genetic material of all cells. Eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms normally contain DNA in a double-stranded state, yet several important biological processes transiently involve single-stranded regions. DNA, which consists of a polysugar-phosphate backbone possessing projections of purines (adenine and guanine) and pyrimidines (thymine and cytosine), forms a double helix that is held together by hydrogen bonds between these purines and pyrimidines (adenine to thymine and guanine to cytosine). D005090 Exodeoxyribonucleases A family of enzymes that catalyze the exonucleolytic cleavage of DNA. It includes members of the class EC 3.1.11 that produce 5'-phosphomonoesters as cleavage products. DNA Exonucleases,Exonucleases, DNA
D005454 Fluorescence Polarization Measurement of the polarization of fluorescent light from solutions or microscopic specimens. It is used to provide information concerning molecular size, shape, and conformation, molecular anisotropy, electronic energy transfer, molecular interaction, including dye and coenzyme binding, and the antigen-antibody reaction. D020137 Base Pair Mismatch The presence of an uncomplimentary base in double-stranded DNA caused by spontaneous deamination of cytosine or adenine, mismatching during homologous recombination, or errors in DNA replication. Multiple, sequential base pair mismatches lead to formation of heteroduplex DNA; (NUCLEIC ACID HETERODUPLEXES). Base Pair Mismatches,Mismatch, Base Pair,Mismatches, Base Pair
