1423 patients with maxillo-facial trauma were admitted for hospital treatment from 1980-1986. Midfacial and/or mandibular corpus fractures were present in 87 juvenile cases. The follow-up study of 64 patients of this group revealed some interesting points: 1. Fractures of the juvenile skull must be reduced exactly. There will be no "smoothing of edges" during the later growth period. 2. Teeth which had been left in the fracture line showed no disturbance during their eruption. 3. An enlargement of the zygomatic-alveolar crest was a frequent observation in zygoma fractures. 4. There is no need for regular follow-up examinations if the primary treatment has been successfully done.
