[Substantiation of differential approach to surgical treatment of duodenal ulcer]. 1990

L V Potashov, and V P Morozov, and E S Did-Zurabova

An examination of 395 patients with ulcer disease of the duodenum was made. The authors have developed a program of examination of patients with ulcer disease. In addition to traditional methods it includes such methods as intragastric pH-metry in the body and antral part of the stomach, measuring tissue blood flow in the wall of the stomach and duodenum, investigation of parameters of local resistance of the mucosa, medicamentous tests. The possibility to predict curative effects of surgical procedures is discussed.

D011706 Pyloric Antrum The region between the sharp indentation at the lower third of the STOMACH (incisura angularis) and the junction of the PYLORUS with the DUODENUM. Pyloric antral glands contain mucus-secreting cells and gastrin-secreting endocrine cells (G CELLS). D005753 Gastric Mucosa Lining of the STOMACH, consisting of an inner EPITHELIUM, a middle LAMINA PROPRIA, and an outer MUSCULARIS MUCOSAE. The surface cells produce MUCUS that protects the stomach from attack by digestive acid and enzymes. When the epithelium invaginates into the LAMINA PROPRIA at various region of the stomach (CARDIA; GASTRIC FUNDUS; and PYLORUS), different tubular gastric glands are formed. These glands consist of cells that secrete mucus, enzymes, HYDROCHLORIC ACID, or hormones.
