[Transduction of chromosome and plasmid markers of bacteriophage P1 in pseudotuberculosis pathogen]. 1990

T M Stytsenko, and M I Zarenkov, and S A Lebedeva

A clone of bacteriophage P1 clr100 cml has been isolated capable of the general transduction in the cells of pseudotuberculosis causative agent. The genetic transfer of the 6 Md pesticinogenicity plasmid by the bacteriophage has been used as a model to demonstrate the possibility of transduction. The bacteriophage used has been shown to be efficient in interspecies transduction between yersinia.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D010957 Plasmids Extrachromosomal, usually CIRCULAR DNA molecules that are self-replicating and transferable from one organism to another. They are found in a variety of bacterial, archaeal, fungal, algal, and plant species. They are used in GENETIC ENGINEERING as CLONING VECTORS. Episomes,Episome,Plasmid
D005819 Genetic Markers A phenotypically recognizable genetic trait which can be used to identify a genetic locus, a linkage group, or a recombination event. Chromosome Markers,DNA Markers,Markers, DNA,Markers, Genetic,Genetic Marker,Marker, Genetic,Chromosome Marker,DNA Marker,Marker, Chromosome,Marker, DNA,Markers, Chromosome
D001435 Bacteriophages Viruses whose hosts are bacterial cells. Phages,Bacteriophage,Phage
D014161 Transduction, Genetic The transfer of bacterial DNA by phages from an infected bacterium to another bacterium. This also refers to the transfer of genes into eukaryotic cells by viruses. This naturally occurring process is routinely employed as a GENE TRANSFER TECHNIQUE. Genetic Transduction,Genetic Transductions,Transductions, Genetic
D015011 Yersinia pseudotuberculosis A human and animal pathogen causing mesenteric lymphadenitis, diarrhea, and bacteremia.
