Tangential flow filtration of Bordetella pertussis submerse cultures. 1979

A Valeri, and G Gazzei, and G Genna

A procedure is reported for the large scale separation of Bordetella pertussis microorganisms from liquid culture media by tangential flow filtration (cross flow filtration) using anisotropic membranes with a cut-off limit of 1 x 10(6) daltons, and microporous membranes with a pore size of 0.22 micrometer.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D001886 Bordetella pertussis A species of gram-negative, aerobic bacteria that is the causative agent of WHOOPING COUGH. Its cells are minute coccobacilli that are surrounded by a slime sheath. Bacterium tussis-convulsivae,Haemophilus pertussis,Hemophilus pertussis
D002498 Centrifugation Process of using a rotating machine to generate centrifugal force to separate substances of different densities, remove moisture, or simulate gravitational effects. It employs a large motor-driven apparatus with a long arm, at the end of which human and animal subjects, biological specimens, or equipment can be revolved and rotated at various speeds to study gravitational effects. D005374 Filtration A process of separating particulate matter from a fluid, such as air or a liquid, by passing the fluid carrier through a medium that will not pass the particulates. (McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms, 4th ed) Filtrations
