[The vascular wall and fibrinolysis--pharmacologic aspects]. 1986

F Markwardt

The biochemical reaction and physiological role of plasminogen activator from the vessel wall were reviewed. Furthermore, results of studies on the pharmacological influence on its biosynthesis and release were reported.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D008954 Models, Biological Theoretical representations that simulate the behavior or activity of biological processes or diseases. For disease models in living animals, DISEASE MODELS, ANIMAL is available. Biological models include the use of mathematical equations, computers, and other electronic equipment. D010960 Plasminogen Activators A heterogeneous group of proteolytic enzymes that convert PLASMINOGEN to FIBRINOLYSIN. They are concentrated in the lysosomes of most cells and in the vascular endothelium, particularly in the vessels of the microcirculation. D001808 Blood Vessels Any of the tubular vessels conveying the blood (arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules, and veins). Blood Vessel,Vessel, Blood,Vessels, Blood
D004727 Endothelium A layer of epithelium that lines the heart, blood vessels (ENDOTHELIUM, VASCULAR), lymph vessels (ENDOTHELIUM, LYMPHATIC), and the serous cavities of the body. Endotheliums
D005337 Fibrin A protein derived from FIBRINOGEN in the presence of THROMBIN, which forms part of the blood clot. Antithrombin I
D005342 Fibrinolysis The natural enzymatic dissolution of FIBRIN. Fibrinolyses

D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA.
