A procedure was developed for a rapid double staining of peroxidase and other proteins in the same polyacrylamide gels using guaiacol and Coomassie blue. The distinguishable colored bands of peroxidase isozymes and proteins are stable for at least 8 months.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D007527 Isoenzymes Structurally related forms of an enzyme. Each isoenzyme has the same mechanism and classification, but differs in its chemical, physical, or immunological characteristics. Alloenzyme,Allozyme,Isoenzyme,Isozyme,Isozymes,Alloenzymes,Allozymes
D010544 Peroxidases Ovoperoxidase
D010944 Plants Multicellular, eukaryotic life forms of kingdom Plantae. Plants acquired chloroplasts by direct endosymbiosis of CYANOBACTERIA. They are characterized by a mainly photosynthetic mode of nutrition; essentially unlimited growth at localized regions of cell divisions (MERISTEMS); cellulose within cells providing rigidity; the absence of organs of locomotion; absence of nervous and sensory systems; and an alternation of haploid and diploid generations. It is a non-taxonomical term most often referring to LAND PLANTS. In broad sense it includes RHODOPHYTA and GLAUCOPHYTA along with VIRIDIPLANTAE. Plant

D004795 Enzyme Stability The extent to which an enzyme retains its structural conformation or its activity when subjected to storage, isolation, and purification or various other physical or chemical manipulations, including proteolytic enzymes and heat. Enzyme Stabilities,Stabilities, Enzyme,Stability, Enzyme
D006139 Guaiacol An agent thought to have disinfectant properties and used as an expectorant. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p747) 2-Hydroxy-Anisole,2-Hydroxyanisole,2-Methoxy-Phenol,2-Methoxyphenol,Guaicol,Methyl Catechol,Catechol, Methyl
