[Treatment with Brånemark osseointegrated prosthesis]. 1989

Y S Kim

This report presents the findings of an edentulous case treated with Brånemark osseointegrated prosthesis and elapsed 1 year. The fixture installation was recognized as a sort of artificial abutment preparation as compared to natural abutment preparation and the procedure performed, prosthetic design and fabrication, and details after the prosthesis placement were discussed. Especially, fixture installation procedure, gingival health, perifixtural bone state, prosthesis stability, occlusal condition, masticatory function and efficiency were analysed subjectively and objectively in the light of the references. In conclusion, since this case is presumably still remaining in the remodelling phase as well as the inadequacy of the period for a good evaluation, not any significant observations were made except the general to the previous documentations.
