Occipito-maxillary traction. 1966

K Kneipp

A disadvantage of the cervical harnesses in general use is that they compress the temporomandibular joints, chin and cheeks, producing discomfort and, sometimes, pain at these sites. Patients frequently try to minimize their discomfort by tensing or by fighting against the distracting force and it would seem reasonable to entirely bypass the mandibular region as an area of purchase.
