Aortic arch syndrome--Takayasu's arteritis in Nigeria. 1989

Four cases of aortic arch syndrome (Takayasu's arteritis), all in Nigerian females, are presented. Our clinical and roentgenological findings are described and the disease briefly discussed.

It results in progressive arterial stenosis, occlusion, and aneurysm formation. The pulse in the arm is hard to detect. Patients with aortitis syndrome often exhibit retinopathy.
