The emotional and play needs of the dying child. 1989

E Gray

At any particular moment, the doctor's goal is cure and the child's goal is self-pleasure. Recreation therapy helps the child meet this goal while moving toward the doctor's goal. When the doctor's goal can no longer be reached, recreation therapy can provide support to the child through the established relationship. The emotional and play needs of the dying child can be met.
