Detection of mycoplasmas in cell cultures, using L6M, containing 6-methylpurine deoxyriboside. 1989

K Jurmanová, and M Hájková, and O Fischer

Methods for the detection of mycoplasmas in cell cultures with 6MPDR are rapid and inexpensive and do not require special skill in the mycoplasma culturing. Properties of L6M, a dry, lyophilised, sterilised, and thermostabile reagent containing 6MPDR, are described. Its diagnostic value is comparable to that of the liquid, 6MPDR containing reagent MycoTect requiring storage at -70 degrees C.

UI MeSH Term Description Entries
D009174 Mycoplasma A genus of gram-negative, mostly facultatively anaerobic bacteria in the family MYCOPLASMATACEAE. The cells are bounded by a PLASMA MEMBRANE and lack a true CELL WALL. Its organisms are pathogens found on the MUCOUS MEMBRANES of humans, ANIMALS, and BIRDS. D011684 Purine Nucleosides Purines with a RIBOSE attached that can be phosphorylated to PURINE NUCLEOTIDES. Purine Nucleoside,Nucleoside, Purine,Nucleosides, Purine
D002460 Cell Line Established cell cultures that have the potential to propagate indefinitely. Cell Lines,Line, Cell,Lines, Cell
D003470 Culture Media Any liquid or solid preparation made specifically for the growth, storage, or transport of microorganisms or other types of cells. The variety of media that exist allow for the culturing of specific microorganisms and cell types, such as differential media, selective media, test media, and defined media. Solid media consist of liquid media that have been solidified with an agent such as AGAR or GELATIN. Media, Culture
D000818 Animals Unicellular or multicellular, heterotrophic organisms, that have sensation and the power of voluntary movement. Under the older five kingdom paradigm, Animalia was one of the kingdoms. Under the modern three domain model, Animalia represents one of the many groups in the domain EUKARYOTA. D014709 Vero Cells A CELL LINE derived from the kidney of the African green (vervet) monkey, (CHLOROCEBUS AETHIOPS) used primarily in virus replication studies and plaque assays. Cell, Vero,Cells, Vero,Vero Cell
